Live presentations from a number of New Zealand's leading health food companies via video link featured at the inaugural New Zealand-Taiwan Nutraceuticals Conference, held in Taipei on Tuesday.

The event, organized by the Taiwan office of the New Zealand Trade Development Centre (NZTDC), an export promotion agency, is the first of several video conferences planned for this year by the newly-formed NZ-TW Biotech Committee, a joint government-private sector body aiming to promote exchanges between the two countries' life science industries.

Kicking off the event, market research company TNS Global gave a presentation summarizing the findings of its recently commissioned study of Taiwan's nutraceutical market.

Next up, via video link from NZTDC's Auckland, New Zealand office, was an overview of the country's natural product sector from Michelle Beckett of the industry association group Natural Products of New Zealand.

This was followed by presentations from the following companies, all looking to find distribution partners for their products in Taiwan:

Alpha Laboratories
A contract manufacturer of health products in soft/hard gel, tablet or powder form, the company specializes in colostrum (the first milk from a new mother sheep, full of immunity-boosting nutrients) and deer blood products.

Healtheries
A dietary supplements manufacturer, recently voted "The most trusted natural healthcare brand" in New Zealand by Readers Digest readers. The company produces an extensive range of supplements, beverages and food/oil products, with exports making up 70 percent of its business. Healtheries is well known for its green lipped mussel extract products, first developed 30 years ago for the treatment of arthritis.

NZ Health Naturally
