(Taiwan) Taipei forum examines bio-industry investment trends, new technologies

The Taiwan branch of the networking group for technology professionals, the Monte Jade Science and Technology Association, held its annual life science-focused investment forum this week in Taipei, Taiwan.

Organizers and speakers at this year's Monte Jade BioInvestor Forum, held in Taipei on April 17-18, 2008 | The two-day event, the 2008 Monte Jade BioInvestor Forum, finished Friday and featured keynote presentations on current international biotech investment trends, as well an examination of recent technology advances of interest to the investment community.
The event also showcased Taiwan's emerging life science industry, as local companies were given 15 minutes each to address forum participants. More than 30 companies took advantage of the opportunity, with presentations grouped into biotech and pharmaceutical, medical device, new energy/biofuels and agricultural biotechnology categories.
Named after Mount Jade, the highest mountain in Taiwan, the Monte Jade Science and Technology Association was established by a group of Taiwanese-American high technology executives in California's Silicon Valley in 1989. There are fourteen Monte Jade chapters worldwide. Ten chapters are in the US, one in Canada, one in Singapore, one in Hong Kong, and one in Taiwan.
Monte Jade's stated objective is to promote the cooperation and mutual flow of technology and investment globally, and provides an opportunity for professionals and corporations to network and share experiences in investment, opportunities, management, technology and business information exchange.
