A forum examining how biotech and pharmaceutical companies in Taiwan promote technologies developed in-house will take place in Taipei on Wednesday, 27th of February.

The forum, entitled "Building Commercial Opportunities in the Life Sciences through Technology Promotion and Alliances," is organized by BiotechEast along with the Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industries Program Office, MOEA, and will be held at the Far Eastern Hotel in Taipei, 2pm to 5:30 pm. The event will also be supported by scientific journal publishers Nature Publishing Group, Asia-Pacific.

The forum will feature speakers from Taiwan and overseas, including a keynote presentation from Dr. James Chang, Senior Director, R&D Partnering and Technology Assessment at Allergan Pharmaceuticals in the US. Dr. Chang is perhaps best known for his role in the development and commercialization of Botox, the popular product used in cosmetic surgery, at Allergan in the late 1990s. Presently, Dr. Chang is responsible for scouting licensing and partnering opportunities for Allergan in a number of therapeutic areas including ophthalmology, neurology, gastroenterology, urology and dermatology.

David Silver, president of BiotechEast, will also be presenting his company's new package of promotional services aimed at enhancing the international visibility of locally-developed license-ready technologies in the life sciences, called the Taiwan Life Sciences Technology Promotion Platform.

Other companies making presentations at the events include PharmaEssentia, Medigreen Biotechnology, and PhytoHealth.
